When patients come to us concerned about their cardiac health and wondering about whether or not there is a type of heart therapy that might be right for them, there are several steps that can be taken to either prevent problems or improve any problematic areas. Before we begin to think about nutritional and behavioral changes that can improve heart health, the first and most important step is to assess exactly where the patient’s heart health is. In this way, we rule out major problems that require immediate treatment and then design a heart-health optimization program specific to the patient.
Cardiac Testing
Revitalize Anti Aging Centers offer the full range of state-of-the-art tests that can provide a complete picture of a patient’s overall heart situation. These include:
- Electrocardiogram (EKG): Measures heart rate and rhythm to assess healthy (or abnormal) activity.
- Blood testing: Evaluates cholesterol levels in addition to checking for vitamin deficiencies and markers for diabetes or inflammation.
- Coronary CT calcium testing: Checks for calcium deposits in the heart. A high level indicates a higher risk of a heart attack because blood flow may be restricted.
- Carotid intima-media testing (CIMT): This is important for determining the thickness of the carotid artery (located in your neck). Thicker than average carotid artery walls are strongly associated with stroke and heart attack.
What Comes Next?
The health of your heart impacts just about all aspects of your health and quality of life. Depending on what we find, we will recommend a customized course of treatment. Assuming there is no need for an immediate medical intervention, we will recommend a course of treatment that typically will be three-pronged. To be specific, exercise, diet, and stress management/reduction techniques will be employed to ensure that a patient’s heart is as strong and healthy as possible and remains that way.
